The new 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer offers drivers top safety features and now it has the backing of the federal government. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) rates vehicles based on their standard equipment and crash test results. This year, the Mitsubishi Lancer brings more safety equipment to the compact sedan segment.
The NHTSA awarded the new Lancer with a four-star safety rating, just one star shy of the highest available five-star safety rating. In all, the Lancer earned a consistent four stars in the front, rollover, and side crash tests.
This year, the Mitsubishi Lancer comes stocked with standard safety equipment like seven airbags, antilock brakes, electronic stability control, and traction control. A rearview camera comes standard on all trim levels, a new feature for the 2017 model year. The Lancer also comes with a standard drive-side knee airbag as part of its seven-airbag system.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, another federal government agency, has yet to rate the 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer. The 2016 model earned an Acceptable rating in the small-overlap crash test and a Good rating for all other tests.
Here at Coronet Mitsubishi, we’re pumped to see the new Lancer offering improved safety in the compact sedan segment!
