Mitsubishi is breaking down barriers with its latest model, the Grand Cruiser Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle—just call it the GC-PHEV for short. This hybrid crossover has some cool new features, besides a name that’ll take the wind out of you. A futuristic design, advanced power system, and the new “tactical table” make this one SUV you won’t forget.
According to Car and Driver, the Mitsubishi GC-PHEV Concept is being considered for production sometime in the near future. With a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 and a 94-hp electric motor, it’s one of the quickest SUVs around. It also features Super All-Wheel Control, which has electronic differentials and energy recovery systems.
The new hybrid electric system is incredibly advanced. It includes a 12 kWh lithium-ion battery which, when mated to the rest of the system, has enough energy to power a household for 13 days. In fact, the GC-PHEV can go 25 miles on pure electricity, meaning short trips are virtually free.
The new model also has a “tactical table,” taken straight from the interior design of the Millennium Falcon. This table is a blue-lit touch-screen in the back that lets passengers hook up to their phones or to Wi-Fi and play around. This is just one of the innovative new features on the GC-PHEV that make it the most advanced SUV around.
