2017 Mirage Test Drive: Sporty Feel, High-Tech Features

2017 Mirage test drive

The 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage is one of the most popular cars on the market thanks to its compact design, affordable pricing, and quality materials. This model comes with several improvements from the last model year, including upgraded technologies, a refreshed look, and an extensive new warranty.

According to the Portland Tribute, the vehicle is a breeze to drive. After a 2017 Mirage test drive, auto writer Jim Redden notes that, “in truth, the 2017 Mirage is better than most of those cars, if only because it has more standard safety equipment. But it’s also more environmentally sensitive, getting much better mileage than its predecessors, and even more than some hybrids.”

Under the hood of the Mirage is a small yet powerful 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine that is paired with a continuously variable transmission. This fuel-sipping powertrain isn’t designed for the racetrack, but it’s still great for city and highway driving. Best of all, its lightweight design gives the Mirage an added kick and better handling.

There are even some high-tech features and premium materials available on the new 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage. This includes 15-inch wheels, fog lights, color-keyed mirrors, heated seating, and a 6.5-inch display screen. You can even get Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, a rearview camera, and more.

2017 Mitsubishi Mirage G4

2017 Mitsubishi Mirage

The all-new 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage is here and ready to take on the world. Forget the Mirage of the past, because the new G4 has even more to offer.

With the popularity of the Mirage, Mitsubishi designed to expand the lineup, and with that comes to G4 four-door sedan. It made its U.S. debut earlier this year at the 2016 New York Auto Show. As opposed to its Mirage hatchback sibling, the G4 has a separate trunk for those who prefer a sedan over a hatchback.

Tech updates abound, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, so your smart phone can be connected at all times. Efficiency is top-notch, too. A fuel economy rating of 40 mpg makes the Mirage G4 the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid car in the U.S.

On the inside, updated interior materials make the seats much more comfortable than its hatchback predecessors. A new steering wheel makes for a better grip and handling.

While you won’t go from zero to sixty in two seconds, the lower horsepower is made up for in the affordability and efficiency of this sedan.

So now you have something to look forward to: style, efficiency, and affordability all-in-one!

IHS Recognizes 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage

The 2016 models are hitting dealerships but the 2015 awards aren’t over just yet! IHS Automotive recognized the Mitsubishi Mirage for the second year in a row. Taking home the highest Model Loyalty in the Non-Luxury Traditional Sub-Compact segment, the 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage continues to prove its dominance. While there won’t be a 2016 model, the Mirage will be all-new for the 2017 model year.

The IHS Automotive loyalty performance is awarded based on how many households that own a new vehicle return to purchase or lease another vehicle of the same make and model. The Mitsubishi Mirage saw the highest percentage of owners in the 2015 model year, making it the top model among its segment.

“The Mitsubishi Mirage is one of the true hidden gems in the automotive industry and this IHS award validates that claim,” said Don Swearingen, executive vice president, Mitsubishi Motors North America.

New for 2017, the Mitsubishi Mirage will boast a new design, more performance, and technology like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Best of all, it will come at a reasonable price—something the segment lacks.

We here at Coronet Mitsubishi are proud to see the Mitsubishi Mirage take home a loyalty award for the second year in a row.

2017 Mitsubishi Mirage Updates Include Powertrain and Chassis Improvements

Mitsubishi has just announced that the Mirage will not be appearing as a 2016 model. Instead, the automaker will introduce a refreshed 2017 model in spring of 2016.

Mitsubishi wants to spend more time ensuring that the updates are strategic and implemented well. Car and Driver reports that the 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage updates will be related to the powertrain and chassis.

At the time that it was released in 2014, the 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage was the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid gasoline vehicle. With its 5-door subcompact design and affordable pricing, the Mirage was the perfect example of a car built for the demands of today’s driving.

And the 2015 Mirage certainly gained notice. Cars.com ranked the hatchback #1 in its New Cars for Penny Pinchers list. The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy named the Mirage to its prestigious Greenest Vehicles list. It’s this model that will remain available throughout the 2016 model year (2015).

In addition to a refresh for the Mitsubishi Mirage hatchback, Mitsubishi will also be introducing a sedan variant, which we have yet to see here in States but is already sold overseas. For more information, make sure to stop by Coronet Mitsubishi for all of your Mitsubishi needs.
