Mitsubishi GT-PHEV Concept Hints at the Outlander’s Future

Mitsubishi GT-PHEV Concept

Mitsubishi hasn’t exactly kept quiet about the future of the Outlander, one of its most popular vehicles. The fast-selling crossover is bound to have an interesting future, especially with the reveal of the latest concept at the Paris Motor Show. The Mitsubishi GT-PHEV concept is the latest design to roll under the spotlights.

Mitsubishi already showed up two previous concepts of what the future of the Outlander could look like. The XR PHEV II at the Geneva Motor Show put an interesting spin on things. The EX concept took the stage at the Toyota Motor Show as well.

Now it’s the Mitsubishi GT-PHEV concept’s turn.

The crossover’s shiny grill leads into a sleek, flowing design characterized by chiseled lines that lead the eye along the sides of the vehicle. The GT-PHEV concept reportedly uses three electric motors and a conventional 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine. The manufacturer-supplied battery is capable of reaching 75 miles on electricity alone.

The latest concept boasts a whole host of advanced technologies as well. That technology includes navigational-planning systems as well as all-wheel drive control to optimize performance.

Only time will tell which concept Mitsubishi will choose for the future of the Outlander crossover.

New 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer Earns Four-Star Safety Rating

new 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer

The new 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer offers drivers top safety features and now it has the backing of the federal government. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) rates vehicles based on their standard equipment and crash test results. This year, the Mitsubishi Lancer brings more safety equipment to the compact sedan segment.

The NHTSA awarded the new Lancer with a four-star safety rating, just one star shy of the highest available five-star safety rating. In all, the Lancer earned a consistent four stars in the front, rollover, and side crash tests.

This year, the Mitsubishi Lancer comes stocked with standard safety equipment like seven airbags, antilock brakes, electronic stability control, and traction control. A rearview camera comes standard on all trim levels, a new feature for the 2017 model year. The Lancer also comes with a standard drive-side knee airbag as part of its seven-airbag system.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, another federal government agency, has yet to rate the 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer. The 2016 model earned an Acceptable rating in the small-overlap crash test and a Good rating for all other tests.

Here at Coronet Mitsubishi, we’re pumped to see the new Lancer offering improved safety in the compact sedan segment!

Final Mitsubishi Lancer Evo Goes to Auction on eBay

Final Mitsubishi Lancer Evo

Well, folks, the final Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, one of the most loved compact cars is officially off the market. The Japanese automaker brought the legendary model’s legacy to a close via an eBay auction on September 15th. All proceeds from the auction benefited Feeding America Riverside and Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.

The final Mitsubishi Evo came in the form of the Lancer Evo X Final Edition. Only 1,600 units left the production line with the final model heading to eBay. It eventually sold for a whopping $76,400, an amount that will surely help those in need.

The Final Edition Evo was the best form of the compact car. It boasted 12 hp over the standard model as well as a five-speed manual transmission. Other standard features included Bilstein shocks, Brembo brakes, and Eibach springs.

The Final Edition model is largely considered a collectible due to the limited production run and upgraded performance features. The car itself boasts a sleek sporty design that makes this model one to remember.

As the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo drives off into the sunset, it’s good to know that the final model will help feed those in need.

We here at Coronet Mitsubishi are sad to see such an amazing car leave the production line for good.

2017 Mirage Test Drive: Sporty Feel, High-Tech Features

2017 Mirage test drive

The 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage is one of the most popular cars on the market thanks to its compact design, affordable pricing, and quality materials. This model comes with several improvements from the last model year, including upgraded technologies, a refreshed look, and an extensive new warranty.

According to the Portland Tribute, the vehicle is a breeze to drive. After a 2017 Mirage test drive, auto writer Jim Redden notes that, “in truth, the 2017 Mirage is better than most of those cars, if only because it has more standard safety equipment. But it’s also more environmentally sensitive, getting much better mileage than its predecessors, and even more than some hybrids.”

Under the hood of the Mirage is a small yet powerful 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine that is paired with a continuously variable transmission. This fuel-sipping powertrain isn’t designed for the racetrack, but it’s still great for city and highway driving. Best of all, its lightweight design gives the Mirage an added kick and better handling.

There are even some high-tech features and premium materials available on the new 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage. This includes 15-inch wheels, fog lights, color-keyed mirrors, heated seating, and a 6.5-inch display screen. You can even get Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, a rearview camera, and more.

The Mitsubishi XM Concept: A Truly Modern Crossover

Mitsubishi XM Concept

The Mitsubishi XM Concept recently debuted at the Indonesia International Auto Show. Based on the eX vehicle revealed last year, this new SUV concept is causing quite a stir. With premium features, a crossover design, and the latest high-tech gadgets, you are bound to fall in love with this model at first sight.

According to AutoCar, the XM Concept will have a versatile design thanks to its crossover style, wide body, and seating for up to seven. It will also have a new dashboard that spans the width of the car, and an elevated center console. Best of all, the interior will also have a high-contrast color scheme, with black, white, and silver accents for an especially refined look.

As of now there is little information about the powertrain under the hood. However, the eX that was revealed last year had an electric motor with all-wheel drive—perhaps foreshadowing what’s under the hood of the XM. The XM could also come with an advanced hybrid design to reduce fuel consumption and pollution.

The exterior is perhaps one of the most striking aspects, with thick tires, sweeping contours, and a tall ride height. The lighting is minimalistic and modern, while the wheels come with a special design to make them truly stand out. We can’t wait to see the new Mitsubishi XM Concept in action

Mitsubishi-Nissan Deal Could Help Both Automakers

Mitsubishi-Nissan Deal

It’s no secret that Mitsubishi is a much smaller automaker than big-time competitors like Nissan, but a new deal could change all that. Nissan has agreed to take a 34% stake in Mitsubishi amid the smaller automaker’s most recent scandal. While the deal may seem one-sided at first, both companies could benefit greatly from the latest Mitsubishi-Nissan deal.

Mitsubishi and Nissan already develop and manufacture products thanks to a 2011 partnership. That deal doesn’t include any shareholding but the new deal does. Under the idea of regaining the public’s trust, Mitsubishi sold Nissan $2.2 billion worth of shares, allowing Japan’s second-largest automaker to take the wheel.

Under the new deal, Nissan effectively bails out Mitsubishi and can elect up to one-third of the board. They also gain new access to other Asian markets, like China, where Mitsubishi vehicles are incredibly popular. The two will also jointly develop new technology as well.

In return, Mitsubishi, which posted its first loss in years just a few weeks ago, received enough money to compensate customers. By giving Nissan at 34% stake, Mitsubishi also joins the Nissan-Renault alliance. Nissan holds a 15% stake in the French automaker while Renault has a 43% stake in Nissan.

Here at Coronet Mitsubishi, we can’t wait to see what comes of the new deal!
